ALIYAH OF NORTH AMERICAN JEWRY
PICKING UP

by Arutz 7 News
The year 2002 has seen a significant increase in North American Aliyah (immigration to Israel).  As of September, 1,680 new immigrants arrived from North America, compared to 1,312 during the same period in 2001.  Over 30% of them were sponsored
by the Nefesh B'Nefesh organization, including almost 400 on one planeload in July and 130 who came afterwards.  The organi-zation reports that many hundreds of applications for next summer's group have come in, and multiple flights are foreseen.  Of those who arrived on the July flight and sought immediate employment (as opposed to a Hebrew studies course), 86% already have professional placement.  (Arutz 7).
