"Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He shall hear my voice"  (Psalm 55:17).

December 4, 2002 - 5th Day of Chanukah

Dear Prayer Warriors,

I often am thinking about & our partnering with Israeli Internet work for Operation Crossing Bridges
to encourage Christian support of Israel's soldiers.  I sent the following letter to's soldiers from Haverim today.

Dear Ones,

Especially because of joining with for Operation Crossing Bridges, you have been on my heart constantly.  Are you all right, do you have everything you need?  Are you warm enough while on duty...

When the attack against Israelis came on the eve of Chanukah in Kenya killing the sons and wounding the mother and daughter of the family from Ariel (among others), my heart was broken.  Yet I was thankful no more had been injured than the numbers reported.  I was thankful that the missiles aimed at the Israeli airliner had missed their target.  I was thankful your soldiers went
to Kenya to bring your fellow Israelis home.

I often think of your young men and women donning your uniforms and responding with pride to serve your nation.  It is then
that I remember the words of the prophet Jeremiah in the Bible when he speaks of the sound of Rachel weeping for her children in ancient Israel.  Then I remember the promise to Israel, "Refrain from weeping, and wipe your eyes from tears, for your work shall be rewarded, says the L-rd, and they shall come back from the land of the enemy."  "There is hope for your future, says the L-rd, that your children shall come back to your own border" (Jeremiah 31:15-17).  When I think of these words, I rejoice deep within my heart for you and for Israel!  For indeed there is hope for you and a future!  All who love the Bible must know that as the prophet Zechariah says concerning you:  "For thus saith the L-rd of hosts:   He sent Me after glory, to the nations which plundered you; for he who touches you touches the apple of His eye.  " (Zechariah 2:8).

This year for the first time I purchased a Chanukah Menorah (made in Israel of course).  Each evening I have been placing the Menorah in the most visible window of our Christian home and lighting it saying the prayers; but it is not only to honor the G-d
of all the Universe that I light the Menorah.  It is also as an act of Christian solidarity with all of you and Israel.

My heart and prayers are with Israel's soldiers and the work of in supporting you.  The hearts and prayers of
many of those who are part of Haverim's Internet Concert of Prayer for Israel are with you.  We know that the Holy One of
Israel rejoices over each of you.  Therefore even in times of stress and sorrow, we too still rejoice for you and for Israel, His Beloved.

Warmest regards and blessings to you during this miracle season of Chanukah.
